With a focus on creating a sensitive scale between the architecture and the landscape, the design team has managed to establish generous relationships between the interior and exterior of the property. The play of light and shades from the trees, as well as the reflections from the water surface in front of the glazed facades, contribute to the creation of intense room atmospheres.

Goethestrasse 1 is a testament to sustainable architecture. The dwelling house and the carport are constructed from concrete, chosen for its spans, geometries, and plasticity. Steel V-supports carry the loads while the attic is made of prefabricated elemental wooden stud walls and ceilings. Heating and cooling are provided via an air heat pump, with thermal comfort achieved by capillary heating mats operating at low temperatures.

The design process involved an intensive examination of the possible arrangements of the residential levels within the limited area of the building dimensions. The spatial aspects, orientation, light, water, plastic shape, and the valuable tree population were all taken into consideration. The result is a design that not only meets the strict planning law requirements but also creates an architecture that is free from constraints and open to human senses and emotions.

The interaction with the design is facilitated by a tilted exterior wall that creates an airspace, connecting the ground floor with the upper floor and enabling natural lighting for the basement. The sloping high windows upstairs create the feeling of living within the treetops. An open steel staircase serves as a highly sculptural element of the interior area, providing access to the different levels.

The design of Goethestrasse 1 has been recognized with a Silver A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
